Note that this charm can only be awarded once! -

This charm is awarded to recognize Salties who take action to help another person in distress on the water at FWSA and Salty events.
Skipper’s Hat 1971
To be eligible for the Skipper’s Hat charm, a Salty Sister who sails regularly in crewed boats shall be proposed for testing by the Skipper’s Hat Committee. She earns committee membership and the award after demonstrating she can perform all positions of crew and helm without direction and can assist others in doing these tasks.
Practical tests are administered by at least three members of the committee in varying weather conditions
using several boat types. Detail requirements along with the list of Skipper Hat Committee members can be found in the Handbook
Salty Trophy Awards
The Salty Sisters have a series of legacy races with named trophies that are sailed annually.
Many of these trophies were donated by current or former Salty Sisters.
Each has specific criteria as to who may compete.
Detailed information on each of these events can be found in the Handbook
