CAPTAIN ─ NANCY "Hook" SHIVERS
Welcome aboard to the Pirate’s Halloween Party. Thanks to Susan Huff and her Crew for the great decorations. : Kathy Ahern, Ginny Daniels, Aila Erman, Charl Hadfield, Kathy Mansir, Carol Crawford, Jane Martin and Jan Hunter. To enable the Saltys to enter the Waterfront Room for lunch, they had to “Walk the Plank”. Betty Proper was the first Salty to “Walk the Plank”.
GUESTS: Sheila Moore’s daughter is visiting from Lansing, Michigan. Ginger Hanner’s friend lives locally and may someday become a Salty.
CO-CAPTAIN ─ SANDY RIPBERGER
Two additional Sonars, making a total of 7, were out today and even with light winds, they managed to sail 3 windward/leeward races. The prams began their Series today and finished 2 races with a photo finish on the first race between Tove Kullman and Nancy Strite. The Series will continue on Nov. 2 and Nov. 30. The Mother Ducky will be held on the other Wednesdays in Nov. A Sonar Series will begin after education classes finish; and, if there is interest in a Sunfish Series, that will also begin. Race Committee is always needed. Please sign up for all of these events.

Joanne Simmons received her 3rd place charm from the Misfit Races. Nancy Kadau received a participation charm for the July Series. Kathy has charm bracelets available: 7” for $15.00 and 8” for $17.00.

EDUCATION ─ MARIDELL WEAVER & GLORIA DAVIS
The new class was introduced. They were all wearing their costume of a Saltine box with a pram sail hat! They sailed in 5 Sonars today, each having a turn at steering and trimming. Their confidence is really building. There is one more week in the big boats and then to the Mother Ducky Series.
A U.S. Sailing DVD on Rules is missing. If anyone has any info on its location, please notify Maridell ASAP.

Susan thanked her Crew and awarded costume prizes to Nancy Vildibill, Barbara Deininger and Barbara Watson. Forms were being passed around to sign up for a vendor’s booth at the Craft Fair on Nov. 16. There is also a sign-up sheet for the Thanksgiving lunch on the same day. If you desire any optional meals for health reasons, please let Susan know.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The Salty Sisters Craft Show and Sale will be on Nov. 16. This will be merchandise made by the Salties and to be purchased by the Salties. It is not open to the entire yacht club.
New Calendars (Racing Schedules): See Linda Testa if you need a calendar for 2011-2012.
Paddle Boards: There will also be Stand up Power Board Fitness classes held Tuesdays and Thursdays in October and November. The cost is $15.00. Hand-outs describing these events are on the front table.
