CAPTAIN ─ NANCY SHIVERS
At last Wednesday’s Board Meeting it was decided to keep 5 charities from last year and added a new charity called the Chamber of Hope. We now have 6 charities:
The Chamber of Hope,
The Christmas Toy Shop,
Sallie’s House,
The Pace School for Girls,
Music Sweet Music, and
the Free Clinic.
The Salty with the connection to each charity can make a 5 minute speech about their charity or you can get someone from the charity to make the introduction for you. The schedule for the presentations are available as follows:
November 16th:…..1 charity scheduled
November 30th……2 charities scheduled
December 7th……..open for 2 charities
Jim Waters approached us to sponsor a boat in the upcoming lighted boat parade. If anyone wants to decorate a boat in the parade it will be on the 10th of December.

CO-CAPTAIN ─ SANDY RIPBERGER
We had good wind today and had several people take out Sonars to work on spinnaker practice. Janet Walker had an innovative way to work the pole which they all tried out. We also had one Ideal go out today.
The Mother Ducky races were also held today. Coming up, next week we will have the same….Mother Ducky race continuation plus Sonar and Ideal sailing. The following week the pram series will continue and finish. If you have missed any of this pram series, please come out as we have already put in 5 races and the rules say that if we put in 7 races you can drop 2 for your scoring.
On December 7th we will have the Candy Cane Race.

Thank you to all the people who helped put the race on today. We had 5 Mother Duckies, Betty Proper, Carol Hansen, Martha Metcalf, Joanne Simmons and Nancy Kadau. We also had two extra “shepherders”, Kathy Ahern and Lisa Avila. Thanks to the race committee, Maridell, Vickie, Connie, Nancy and Anne.

FWSA ─ NANCY STRITE
Nancy announced awards for the FWSA races. An interclub race was sailed in Dunedin on Monday and charms were presented to Nancy Strite, Nancy Kadau and Joanne Simmons who represented the Salty Sisters at this event. On Saturday the Commodore Lucas Race was held at PAG consisting of 5 races and changing boats for each race. Joanne Simmons came in 3rd.
The Salties are hosting the next interclub on Dec. 6th and race committee is needed.
AWARDS ─ KATHY AHERN
Charms were also presented to Rose Linderman-Worlein for race committee and Marilyn Wall for the Class of 2009.
EDUCATION ─MARIDELL WEAVER & GLORIA DAVIS
The new Saltines stood and were identified by the Salty Sisters today.
There will be an educational seminar at the Club on December 10 taught by Salty experts Carole Bardes and Pat Seidenspinner and Briny Brother George Pennington.

The Thanksgiving feast will start at 11am so you will have time to shop at the Craft Fair that will be held on the same day. Several Salties will be selling their wares at the Craft Fair and will stay after lunch for a short while.

The tour of Endeavor Catamaran Yachts has been postponed until January.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
CHAR -NEL DOYLE:
Christmas Boutique this year will be held on November 29th from 1pm - 7pm. This year we have 45 vendors and full. We are also looking for sponsors. We need “helpers” (2 hours) to sell raffle tickets and other tasks that are needed to keep things running smoothly.
The club has purchased 7 “new” Ideal 18’s for the sailing center and will be selling the Rhodes.
The Commodore Bruce Waters Championship Regatta was sailed last weekend. This was the 1st time it has been run. Commodore Bruce Waters donated a beautiful perpetual trophy for the regatta.
TONI & SIGRID: The Nauticats are looking for new singers…especially sopranos. The Nauticats are already practicing their holiday program and they spend their free time singing for retirement facilities and/or nursing homes for the enjoyment of all. The practices are held on Tuesday afternoons from 3pm - 5pm in the ballroom upstairs…after practice the singers hit the 2-4-1 at the downstairs bar.
The Salty Sisters Craft Show and Sale will be on Nov. 16. This will be merchandise made by the Salties and to be purchased by the Salties. It is not open to the entire yacht club.
SIGRID LOVFALD: If anyone has pictures that are not located on Picasa, please send them to her so she can use it/them on Smooth Sailing.
New Calendars (Racing Schedules): See Linda Testa if you need a calendar for 2011-2012.
Paddle Boards: There will also be Stand up Power Board Fitness classes held Tuesdays and Thursdays in October and November. The cost is $15.00. Hand-outs describing these events are on the front table.
